Browned-Butter Tomatoes and Basil.
Ingredients:
2/3 cup butter
1 handful of basil leaves
5 tomatoes (sliced approx 1/4” thick)
salt and pepper to taste
Place sliced tomatoes on serving platter and reserve. Brown butter with basil over medium heat. Let the butter get to a dark brown colour just before it burns. At the very moment of serving the dish, spoon the sizzling hot butter over tomatoes to create an ohhh-ahhhh experience for your guests and add salt and fresh cracked pepper. This is served best as a side salad with bread for soaking up the basil butter.
