Turkish Ayran Yogurt Drink

Aryan is deceiving drink. On paper, it doesn’t sound appealing. It’s essentially just watered down yogurt. But once you taste this you’ll see why it’s extremely refreshing on a hot day. We enjoy these as breakfast drink or a late afternoon snack. It’s very filling so don’t be surprised if you're eating a bit less during the rest of the day after one of these. And, like every great recipe it can be customized in countless ways. If you don’t have access to Greek Yoghurt, follow our tutorial HERE on how to make it yourself.

Traditional:

  • 1 cup thick Greek Yoghurt (Turkish yogurt is virtually identical)

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 tsp salt

Just blend on three together and enjoy cold. It’s really that simple.

Here are some variations you may like. Just add them in at while blending.

  1. Sweetened with sugar, dried rose petals, a dash of rose water and ground cardamom

  2. Chopped fresh or dried mint + tbsp of honey

  3. 0.5 tsp ground anise + juice and zest of one orange

Or add 1/2 tsp of your favourite extracts such as vanilla, coconut or hazelnut extract and/or fresh fruit.
