Exotic Persian Chai Tea turned local

ALBERTA WILD ROSE PETALS, Mint, AND BORAGE FLOWERS Make this Traditional Persian HERBAL TEA a local favourite

Because I’m collecting the flower petals anyway for my Stolen Harvest Wild Rose Petal Mead, I began looking for other things I could do with them. I’ve make all sorts of desserts using the petals, my favourite being ice cream. While in Edmonton at an ethnic spice store, the owner told me about this Persian recipe for this beautiful sounding tea. She said it was a mixture of rose petals, cinnamon sticks, coriander seeds, dried limes and mint and that it will taste very nice and be good for your health. Always excited to try new and exotic things, as soon as I got home with my bag of borage flowers and dried Persian limes, I made a batch of this tea with my own wild rose petals and mint.

To Make:

Mix 20 grams each of wild rose petals, borage flowers and dried mint leaves.

Add two dried limes and three cinnamon sticks, both broken into pieces.

Sprinkle 30 grams of coriander seeds on top.

How to brew your herbal tea mix:

Bring some water to the boil. Put about two tablespoons of the tea mix into a pot and pour over water. Cover the pot with a tea towel and let stand for five minutes. Strain and enjoy unsweetened or with honey.
